East Cherry Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District (ECCV) has been sustaining our community by providing safe and reliable water since 1962. The Asset Management Technician performs data collection and enters assets into the District’s Asset Management System (AMS). This positions coordinates work with the GIS Asset Administrator and GIS Analyst.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collects, inputs, and maintains data within the Asset Management System, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Verifies data by comparing it to source documents, identifying any errors and taking corrective action promptly.
- Utilizes Global Positioning System (GPS) for accurate and efficient collection of geographical coordinates at locations.
- Maintains progress reports to stay on track and complete tasks.
- Coordinates efforts with the Asset Administrator and GIS Analyst to create the combined GIS and AMS.
- Utilizes best practices to determine format, research data conversions, establish data specifications, update sources, and ensure data integrity; creates thematic maps for routine and unique requests in web based and paper formats.
- Participates in a team environment to assist in special projects and reports when needed.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives and provides input and feedback on department policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Regularly drives a District vehicle and performs work in the field.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in or leads OneECCV committee(s) and/or taskforce(s).
- Provides back-up coverage for other positions.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to learn and utilize GPS equipment.

- Competency to research and access information from various sources to troubleshoot problems with GIS software and applications; compile, analyze and interpret numerous facts and details to solve problems; design and develop spreadsheets of basic difficulty and write routine reports.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, FORMAL TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- HS diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of asset management system or data entry processes preferred.
- Experience using GPS equipment preferred.
- Cartographic or CAD skills desired.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a background check.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position consists primarily of field work with reoccurring office work and requires the frequent operation of a district vehicle to various work sites including remote locations. Office work requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Field work includes exposure to all weather conditions and working in potentially hazardous environments which may involve handling and exposure to hazardous chemicals. This position requires full range of physical motion with hand/eye coordination: for frequent standing and walking including uneven terrain; for the use of tools and equipment; to climb stairs, equipment, and ladders. Position includes the occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 50 pounds and regular lifting of 20-50 pounds of equipment and tools. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
