Summary

Distribution System Resources (DSR) is currently looking to fill a new position.  Under direction of Field Operations Manager but working independently, the Maintenance Specialist will perform maintenance and repair functions on water utility PRVs, ARVs, fire hydrants, pressure washers, industrial vacuum equipment, small engines, pumps.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Assists in the planning and supervising of mechanical maintenance and operational activities related to water utility operations.

Participates in the overhaul, repair, testing and maintenance of water distributions system facilities such as pumps, motors, engines, valves, piping, valves (all types), fire hydrants, pressure washers, hydraulic valve operators, vacuum systems, etc. Some automotive maintenance/repair. The applicant may be required to demonstrate their abilities at the interview. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Demonstrated minimum experience of 2 years performing all duties and responsibilities of the position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to learn how to operate a computerized maintenance management system within two months; Ability to read and write English as it relates to the position.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid and current Driver's License, CDL preferred, Candidate must provide a current MVR prior to an employment offer being made.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to read, comprehend and apply information contained on operation and maintenance manuals.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed involved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to research possible solutions and/or methods to make decisions related to equipment or component repair, adjustment or replacement.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

DSR clients cover much of Colorado and as such, occasional travel is required using company vehicles, DSR pays all travel expenses.

The individual will be provided with initial safety gear, i.e., traffic vest, hard hat, safety glasses\shield, hearing protection. Gloves, safety boots, and respectable clothing are required but not provided.  Additional and/or replacement safety gear is not provided.
